Sheet Metal Worker

We are currently looking for a guillotine/press brake operator, sheet metal worker, to work in a team of five people producing products for the oil and electrical generation industry. Located at Newton Aycliffe Ind Est..

The job role will be the measuring and cutting of sheet and section mild steel, stacking and gathering all needed parts. Reading from technical drawings ensuring accuracy throughout the job. Moving material around the workshop with the use of a counterbalance fork lift and general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and pleasant work environment.

There are also possibilities for the right candidate to move further up through an expanding company and to gain experience in using other types of sheet metal machinery.

The role:

• Transporting of material around the workshop via counterbalance forklift.
• Calculating material usage.
• Stock updates.
• Marking and cutting sheet steel using a CNC guillotine + brake press.
• Use of a bandsaw cutting box section and tube.
• Signing in material from delivery.
• General workshop duties.
• Working with company HSE guidelines.
• 20 days holiday (Plus bank holidays)
• Early finish on a Friday.
• Overtime available.

The candidate:

• Experience in using hand measuring and marking tools.
• Experience in operating press brake & guillotine.
• Experience using sheet metal
• Ability to mark correctly and consistently.
• Able to use initiative to predict problems.
• Be conscious of material usage and reducing waste.
• Counter balance forklift experience.
• Manual handling experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £26,000.00 per year
