Volunteer Chaplain

We are seeking volunteers to provide pastoral and spiritual support for patients, relatives and staff under the supervision of the Trust Chaplain. The role will be based on three Devon Partnership NHS Trust mental health wards; Meadow View, Moorland View and Ocean View. Working closely with our Trust chaplains you will be expected to complete our in-house chaplaincy training before visiting the wards on your own.

As chaplains we offer support and encouragement to people of all faiths and none. If you are accredited within a recognised faith tradition you will be able to offer support to patients seeking your input, however, this is not a prerequisite for the role.

Following an initial informal discussion with members of the chaplaincy team, suitable applicants will be invited to complete the Trusts volunteer recruitment process. This includes a reference from their local minister or faith leader as well as clearance checks for safeguarding purposes.
