Requirements (Desirable)

• Science GCSE
• English and Maths GCSE
• Minimal work experience.

Duties:

Under supervision:

• perform sample preparation for testing
• execute test and record data
• clean and maintain equipment
• Follow health & safety requirements while performing duties

Skills & Attributes

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and sample containers weighing up to 20 kg and if required to stand for short or long periods
• Good hand-and-eye coordination and the ability to use technical equipment
• Time management
• Flexibility & teamwork
• Patience, attention to detail, integrity

Training to have or recieve

• Office 365
• Quality - BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017
• SHEQ - Asbestos awareness, manual handling, first aid, fire warden
• Continuing professional development, e.g. attend workshops, seminars, and online and other types of courses

Progression

Progression of the apprentice to main grade, to senior an onto senior principle technician

Bonuses

There are company performance-based bonus sometime awarded. Additional training and professional skills will be given as career progresses

Salary: Minimum wage for age.

Working hours per week: 40hrs

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday - 8.30am till 17:00pm

Apprenticeship: 6 hours per week.

This role will include studying on the job for the gold standard Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship, which will qualify you in this role and give you eligibility to Registered Science Technician (R.Sci.Tech.) status and the opportunity to progress to L5 Science Technician standard dependant upon employer. You’ll be earning as you learn.
