Full Job Description

Fixed Term until 31 October 2024

From 31st January 2023, a requirement was placed on Local Authorities to work with specified authorities to develop a Serious Violence Strategy, ready to be implemented by January 2024. As part of the duty we are required to develop a Serious Violence Needs Assessment which identifies the types of serious violence that are relevant to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

To help facilitate this, we are recruiting for a Serious Violent Crime Analyst to focus on gathering the data and insight relating to the need assessment along with detailed interpretation and analysis to inform decision making. You will work with a wide range of relevant partners such as Dorset Police and have the ability to gather, analyse and present data and insights. We are looking for someone who is professionally curious around serious violence and community safety in order to develop the serious violence needs assessment and assist in the development of the Serious Violence Strategy. You will be able to work with limited direction and work to tight deadlines.

A secondment could be considered for an existing BCP Council staff member with the consent of their service area.
